Express Employment Professionals Calgary South is currently hiring on behalf of the Salvation Army to support its annual Christmas Kettle campaign.
Location: Various locations in and around Calgary
Duration: November 15th, 2024 to December 24th, 2024
Job Type: Temporary, Part-time
Hours: Tuesday to Saturday: 4-hour shifts (11:00am-3:00pm OR 3:00pm-7:00pm)
Position Purpose Summary:
We are seeking outgoing, personable, and self-motivated individuals who are eager to make a positive impact in their community. If you are passionate about engaging in meaningful conversations with the public and inspiring them to contribute to a noble cause, we invite you to join our team as a Christmas Kettle Host. Every dollar raised through this program directly benefits the community by providing essential assistance, including food, clothing, and shelter to those in need.
Accountabilities:
• Greet and thank donors courteously.
• Host kettle locations and engage with the public to encourage donations.
• Remain at the kettle for the full shift, ensuring the security of donations received.
• Set up, take down, and monitor kettles during the shift.
• Respond to donor/public inquiries, make appropriate referrals, and liaise with the Kettle Team Leader.
• Present a positive image, maintaining a well-groomed appearance while on duty.
• Collaborate with store or property personnel/staff.
• Collect donor contact information for charitable tax receipts when necessary.
• Manage inventory and request supplies when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Highly accountable, disciplined in standards, and results-driven.
• Willingness to learn and apply feedback.
• Ability to work independently.
• Previous sales experience is an asset.
• Previous volunteer experience is an asset.
• Ability to lift objects up to 30 lbs.
• Positive working attitude.
• Ability to positively represent The Salvation Army and reflect its mission and core values.
Experience:
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Fundraising experience is an asset.
• Ability to speak multiple languages is an asset.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
Successful candidates are required to:
• Pass a criminal background check consent.
• Undergo a clear vulnerable sector screening.
• Attend a Kettle Host training session.
Working Conditions:
• The performance of job duties requires bending, walking, lifting, and standing.
• Flexibility is required, as hours may be extended per the Kettle Campaign operational requirements.
• Moving kettle stands (30 lbs) and/or filled kettles (approximately 30 lbs).
