IT Manager, Calgary Winter Club
The Calgary Winter Club is Calgary’s premier private family Club, situated in northwest Calgary on the edge of Nose Hill Park. The CWC is currently accepting applications for the position of IT & Business Systems Manager, reporting to the Director, Finance & Administration. This senior leadership role responsible for managing the Club’s technology infrastructure, business and collaboration technologies, and data
analytics. Additionally, the role includes maintaining the Club’s data systems, generating actionable dashboards and reports, and leading technological innovations to enhance operational efficiency. This role is critical in ensuring seamless IT operations and leveraging data insights to support strategic decision-making for a club with a diverse population consisting of over 500 employees and 10,000 members.
Key Accountabilities
1. IT Infrastructure Management
Oversee the Club’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and user devices, ensuring security, reliability, and optimal performance
Establish and enforce cybersecurity protocols to protect Club assets
2. Enterprise and Business Applications Oversight
Serve as the primary administrator for the Northstar CMS, including software configuration, upgrades, and feature rollouts
o System functions related to billing, accounting, bookings, programming, and reporting
o Provide training and support to users
o Supervise team members that input and manage activity and program schedules
Facilitate UKG/payroll system technical functionality and enhanced capability
Microsoft Technologies (Teams, MS Office, Exchange)
3. Business Analytics
Maintain and optimize the Club’s databases
Design and develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI and Microsoft Excel
Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
Collaborate with department leaders; identify data needs and support data-driven decisionmaking
4. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary liaison for technology vendors
Negotiate contracts to achieve value for the Club and align with strategic goals
Partner with Club leadership to assess and meet the technology needs of various departments
5. Strategic Planning & Budgeting
Industry trends
Plan and execute IT projects
Knowledge & Skills Required
1. Experience with business intelligence tools and developing KPIs for reporting
2. Familiarity with private clubs, hospitality, or non-profit organizations
3. Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or relevant data analytics credentials
4. Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts
Qualifications
1. Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field
2. Over five years of experience in IT management
3. Strong familiarity with club management software systems, such as Northstar, Jonas, or Club Essentials
4. Proven experience and advanced knowledge of Excel and Power BI
5. Working knowledge of SQL, Python, and/or other programming languages for data analysis and automation
6. Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity principles
