Did you know?
· There are 18 Workforce Consultants (WFC) in communities across Alberta. WFCs provide employers with tools and resources to help them recruit, retain and strengthen their workforce.
· Employment in the province declined by 0.8% (-20,400 month-over-month) in May but has grown by 2.7% over the past 12 month.
· Full-time employment declined by 1.6% in May. However, Part-time positions went up by 2.7% in May with even growth in each year over year.

Provincial
· The provincial unemployment rate for May 2024 is 7.2%, slightly higher than the national rate of 6.2%.
· Alberta’s participation rate decreased slightly month over month to 69.4%.
· Employment losses were highest in the construction industry (-20,300) followed by wholesale and retail trade (-7,100) agriculture (-5,500) and healthcare and social assistance (-5,300).
· Alberta’s average hourly wage for May 2024 decreased by 0.3% to $36.47 compared to last month.
· Hiring Bulletins are attached to this email. In May 2024, the number of job postings in Alberta rose by 15.1% (36,700 postings) however, year over year postings were down 7.6%. The largest increase in demand occurred in the following occupations:
o Sales and Service Occupations (+1,799 postings)
o Business, Finance and Administration Occupations (+865 postings)
o Trades, Transport and Equipment Operators and Related Occupations (+793 postings).
