Did you know?
- There are 18 Workforce Consultants (WFC) in communities across Alberta. WFCs provide employers with tools and resources to help them recruit, retain and strengthen their workforce.
- Employment in the province declined by 15,400 (month-over-month) in March, the third month in a row that the employment level has dropped. However, it remained above its March 2024 level of 49,500.
- Full-time employment decreased by 30,300 in March offsetting the increase of 14,000 in part-time employment.

Provincial
The provincial unemployment rate for March 2025 is 7.1%, slightly higher than the national rate of 6.7%.
Alberta’s employment rate and participation rate decreased slightly to 63.4% and 68.3%, respectively.
Employment losses were highest in the manufacturing sector (-11,300 m/m), wholesale and retail trade employment (-9,200 m/m) and accommodation & food services (-6,600) m/m.
Alberta’s average hourly wage for March 2025 increased by 0.3% to $37.04 compared to last month.
