Provincial
- The provincial unemployment rate for January 2025 was 6.7%, slightly higher than the national rate of 6.6%.
- Alberta’s employment rate and the participation rate decreased to 64.2% and 68.8%, respectively.
- Employment losses were highest in accommodation & food services (-5,400 m/m); forestry, fishing, mining, quarrying and oil and gas (-4,500 m/m); and other services except public administration (-3,700 m/m).
- Alberta’s average hourly wage for January 2025 increased by 0.5% to $36.69 compared to last month.

- In January 2025, the number of job postings in Alberta rose by 33.5% (+7,788 postings) from December 2024 and fell by 15.0% (-5,490 postings) from January 2024.
- The largest increase in demand occurred in the following occupations: business, finance and administration (+1573); sales and service (+1520 postings); and trades, transport and equipment operators and related occupations (+1303 postings).
