Did you know?
- There are 18 Workforce Consultants (WFC) in communities across Alberta. WFCs provide employers with tools and resources to help them recruit, retain and strengthen their workforce.
- Employment in the province declined by 7,600 (month-over-month) in September after a large gain (+12,800 month-over-month) in August.
- Full-time employment increased by 3,300 in September and by 73,100 when compared to the same time last year. Part-time positions went down by 10,800 in September.

- Project Elevation: Elevating Alberta’s Outdoor Workforce
- Project Elevation is a province-wide initiative aimed at strengthening the outdoor industry in Alberta by enhancing workforce resiliency. By collaborating with professionals and integrating their expertise into Tourism HR Canada's Tourism Competency Framework, this project seeks to elevate skills, standards, and professionalism in the sector. Through meaningful consultation, Project Elevation aims to drive career development, improve training systems, and unify the sector for future success and resilience.

- Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is offering another installment of their virtual learning series from November 5-28, 2024.

Labour Market Information
Provincial
- The provincial unemployment rate for September 2024 is 7.5%, slightly higher than the national rate of 6.5%.
- Alberta’s participation rate decreased slightly month over month to 68.8%. Alberta still has the highest participation rate in Canada.
- Employment losses were highest in Educational Services (-18,100), Information, Culture, Recreation (-10,300), Accommodation and food services (-3,700), and Manufacturing (-2,600)
- Alberta’s average hourly wage for September 2024 increased by 0.2% to $36.42 compared to last month, which is also 2.4% higher year-over-year.
- Hiring Bulletins are attached to this email. In September 2024, the number of online job postings in Alberta fell by 14.0% to 32,582. Year-over-year job postings are down 14.6%.
